This certificate program is accredited as an Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse counselor Training Program by the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc. (IAODAPCA). After completion of all your coursework and practicum hours, you will be eligible to sit for the IAODAPCA counselor certification examination.

Admissions Requirements
Our substance abuse counseling certificate program is a post-graduate qualification for professionals who hold a master’s degree or current doctoral students.
To apply as a professional not currently enrolled in our Psy.D. program, you should meet the following criteria:
- A master’s degree in professional counseling, psychology, social work, or a related health field.
- A recommended grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
- Practicum experience in a master’s degree program.
