Program Experience
Our Master of Arts in Counseling: Specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program prepares you to provide culturally sensitive therapeutic services in a diversity of clinical settings. You’ll engage in supervised clinical field experiences with expert counseling professionals and social justice activists.
Graduates prepare for certification as National Certified Counselors (NCC), licensure in Illinois as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and licensure in other states with appropriate consultation and adjustment to the curriculum.
Study Online
Our innovative, online courses allow you to work at your own pace, around your own schedule. Each week, you will be expected to review the course materials, participate in learning activities and complete required assignments.
In addition to your online curriculum, you will be required to attend a 5-day residency week on campus at Adler University in Chicago in each of the first and second years of your program.

Coursework:
Courses include a blend of theory, research, thesis preparation and practicum experiences with our community partners. During the last semester of this program, you may also take the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE) offered by the National Board of Certified Counselors.
